Quick Brew Review: Brighton Port Authority (The BPA) "I Think We're Going To Need A Bigger Boat"

 Brighton Port Authority
I Think We're Going To Need A Bigger Boat

The title comes from the famous line in Jaws when Brody realizes the size of the shark he's chasing. Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim might have bitten off more than he can chew with this multitude of performers. Nevermind, the bogus backstrory about it being lost until showing up in a warehouse last year. This production was too well crafted to be lost. The bouyant energy of "Toe Jam" with David "Everyday is fuckin' perfect" Bryne and the rapper Dizzee Rascal was on the net mid last year, along with a neat video, and still lifts us to dance today. "Seattle" with newbee Emmy The Great is a mesmerizing song with a killer bass riff. "Should I Stay Or Should I Blow" isn't the Clash song at all, but a fun Jamaican jam with bits of guitar samples thrown in. The other Jamaican style tune "Spade" with Martha Wainwright doesn't quite work. On the cover "He's Frank", Iggy Pop just phones it in. The rest sounds like filler and you know I deduct for filler. Three good tunes are just not enough to float my boat.
