Quick Brew Review: Yeah Yeah Yeah's "It's Blitz"
Yeah Yeah YeahsIt's Blitz

You know something is up with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, when you hear the opening synths pulsing, machines hissing, and Karen O's first lines "Shake it like a ladder to the sun, makes me feel like a mad man on the run" sound so unforced and under control. It's an electro-pop dance track called "Zero" with guitars buried deep under the driving synths of the chorus. Yeah, it's really the YYYs and "Zero" is a terrific start to kick off this new side of the band. They do rock, but with a blend of dance beats on highlights like "Heads Will Roll", "Dull Life" and "Shame and Fortune". They also slow it down nicely with the dreamy "Soft Shock", the celtic sounding "Skeleton" and the sweet mid-tempo "Hysteric". You can definitely hear the presence of TV On The Radio's Dave Sitek as co-producer. It's a different sound for fans, but a great comeback after 2006's mediocre Show Your Bones.
