KEY TRACK:
It's always interesting to get two different musical personalities together to record an album and see what results. Especially since Gibbard's last collaberative effort with Jimmy Tamborello on The Postal Service gave us 2003's wonderful Give Up. This partnership seems to be more one sided as Farrar's pet project, where he actually lived in Kerouac's old cabin and wrote the lyrics from paraphrasing his writings. Most of these tracks tend to be down tempo alt country, which Farrar and Spencer excel at with Son Volt. Farrar trades vocals back and forth with Gibbard, who provides some spark to brighten up an otherwise dull set.
