WUASTM Best Songs of 2009: #50 - 26
We've seen an unprecedented year of new music in 2009. There's been enough diversity to satisfy practically anyone's music tastes. We definitely had a surge in surfer sound revivals, dreamy bedroom pop, lo-fi garage rock, and psychedelic electronica, but we also heard just about everything in between. It'll be interesting to see what trends emerge next year. Before we leave 2009 for good, we wanted to recap of our top rated album releases and close out the year with our top 100 songs. (We've already listed our top rated albums of the year. Be sure and check that out if you missed it.)Now, we're onto our top 100 songs of 2009. We choose from the tracks that moved us the most during the year and stayed on our playlist the longest. However, with so much great music, we had to make some very tough choices.
We adopted the following rules to determine the field:
1. Any track released on album in 2009 were considered.2. Singles released for 2010 albums were not considered (since we haven't heard all the album yet).3. Singles, remixes, and EP songs were considered, if that was the only expected release format.4. Multiple songs from artists were allowed (this year for the first time).
So, we think we've ended up with a wide diversity of music of this list, which really summarizes what we heard in 2009.
