After we selected their debut album as an essential album of the decade, we wondered if the dreaded sophomore slump would set in. Not even close. In fact, this album is more complex and better produced than their debut (one of our Essential Albums of the Decade). The tracks mix spacious orchestration, samples, synths and pure pop into some rarefied air. So, let the debate begin. This album may not foster as many instant hits as their debut, but it's so intricate that might stay on your playlist longer to fully digest. We may just have our best album of the year delivered with the very first batch of major releases for 2010.
